Data is at the heart of decision-making, and useful for citizens, scientists and decision-makers in the GROW Observatory. Discover the data we are gathering, and the visualisations, services and artwork we have built on this data.
Soil Sensor Locations
Explore the locations of thousands of sensors around Europe that are connected to the GROW Observatory. The soil moisture data collected by these sensors is used to validate European Space Agency satellites and inform decisions by food growers and policy makers.
Dynamic Soil Moisture Maps
We developed soil moisture maps as an information service for use in agriculture and climate forecasting. A farmer, scientist or policy maker can see and track how soil moisture is changing over a continuous area, or investigate a single sensor at any point in time.
GROW Observatory mobile app
Get crop and planting advice tailored to your location, explore the edible plant database, and get detailed, science based information on regenerative growing practices. Also use the app to record and share data about landscape features to combine with sensor data.
By the Code of Soil
This artwork creates a data portrait of the cluster of soil sensors nearest the viewer each time a Sentinel-1 satellite passes overhead. Produced through a residency by artists Kasia Molga and Scanner with GROW Observatory.
Plan My Water information service
The GROW Water Planner is a tool that allows small scale growers to find out how much water their plants will need over the coming months, based on their location. It is intended to support water planning and management activities.
The version linked here is a prototype that could be developed further with a more complete data set. Currently there is only data available in a limited set of locations.
